1. INTRODUCTION

This privacy policy explains how PawAlert ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.

By using PawAlert, you agree to this policy.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

What we collect:

• Email address — if you create an account (to identify you)
• Photos — animal photos you upload (to show on map)
• Location — where you saw the animal (to pin on map)
• Device information — model, OS version (for app performance)
• Usage data — how you use the app (to improve features)

We NEVER collect:

• ❌ Your home address
• ❌ Your real name (unless you provide it)
• ❌ Payment information (we use Google Play)

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

• ✅ Show animal locations on map
• ✅ Connect you with other users
• ✅ Improve the app
• ✅ Send important updates (if you allow)

We do NOT:

• ❌ Sell your data to anyone
• ❌ Share your personal info with marketers
• ❌ Track you across other apps

4. DATA PORTABILITY

You have the right to receive a copy of your data in a commonly used format. To request your data:

• Include your user ID (found in Profile)
• We will respond within 30 days

5. STORAGE AND SECURITY

• Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers
• We use industry-standard security
• You can delete any post anytime
• You can delete your entire account in Settings

Data retention:

• Posts: 30 days in Browse, 1-3 days on Map
• Account info: Until you delete account
• Chat messages: Until both users delete

6. REPORTING CONCERNS

If you see something inappropriate, suspicious, or need to report another user:

• Include the animal ID or username
• Describe the issue
• We will review within 48 hours

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY (COPPA)

PawAlert is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us immediately.

8. YOUR RIGHTS (GDPR - Europe)

If you're in Europe, you have the right to:

If your data is compromised, we will:

1. Notify affected users within 72 hours
2. Investigate the cause
3. Fix the vulnerability
4. Report to authorities if required

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you:

• In the app
• Via email (if you have an account)
• When you next open the app

Continued use means you accept the changes.

13. ACCOUNT DELETION

To delete your account and all associated data:

1. Open Paw Alert
2. Go to Settings
3. Tap "Delete Account"
4. Confirm the deletion

Your account, posts, and messages will be permanently removed within 24 hours.
