DALLAS — On February 10, 2026, law enforcement agencies rescued 207 dogs from a suspected dogfighting ring operating across four Texas counties: Dallas, Ellis, Kaufman, and Smith.

By the numbers:

207 dogs rescued

66 firearms seized

534g cocaine + 578g marijuana + fentanyl pills

4 counties | 27 search warrants | 150+ officers

The operation, named "Operation Fight Club," involved simultaneous execution of 27 search warrants by over 150 officers from the Dallas Police Department, the FBI, Texas DPS, the ASPCA, Operation Kindness, and Dallas Animal Services.

Evidence of Organized Animal Cruelty

At the properties, investigators found fighting pits with dried blood, treadmills used to condition dogs forcibly, heavy chains, tire jumps, and makeshift kennels where dogs were tethered outdoors in freezing temperatures with minimal shelter.

Many of the 207 dogs had fresh wounds, old scars, cropped ears, and broken teeth — all consistent with organized dogfighting.

Where the Dogs Went

Following the rescue, approximately 150 dogs were transported to an ASPCA emergency shelter outside Texas for forensic exams, medical treatment, and behavioral assessment. The remaining dogs were taken to local shelters, including Dallas Animal Services and Operation Kindness.

Urgent: As of late February 2026, Dallas Animal Services is at 136% capacity and has issued an urgent call for adoptions and fosters to free up space.

Legal Consequences and Ongoing Investigation

Dogfighting is a state-jail felony in Texas, punishable by up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine per animal. Federal charges related to firearms and drugs are also possible.

No arrests have been publicly announced. The investigation remains active. The ASPCA is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to additional arrests.
